Owens congratulates Cordray, encourages renewed focus on people of Ohio

COLUMBUS, OHIO - Robert Owens, the Independent candidate for Ohio attorney general, conceded his race at 11pm Tuesday night.  Owens ran on a platform that highlighted the needs of urban voters and pointed out the systemic corruption that costs Ohioans millions of dollars each year.

“I congratulated Mr. Cordray on his victory,” Owens said, addressing supporters gathered in downtown Columbus.  “And I encouraged him to seriously consider some of the issues we raised in our campaign to better serve the people of Ohio.”

Based on early returns, Owens was expected to achieve approximately 5% of the final vote in the attorney general race, the highest total for any Independent or third party candidate for statewide executive office in the last twenty-five years.
