Integrity
There is often a conflict between the law and party politics. The Attorney General is the highest law enforcement official in Ohio and has a duty to protect the State and her officers by upholding the law.
That duty is challenged when influenced by the corrupting nature of partisan politics. Corruption is the natural consequence of this conflict. As an independent candidate for Attorney General I will not be bound to powerful special interests or promises of votes that will affect my enforcement of the law.
When I say I want to bring integrity to the office, I truly believe the best way to accomplish this is by an independent administrator.
Transparency
Big money politics thrives on secrecy. Executive sessions, closed door meetings, obscure commissions, hard to find government information: this is the environment that fosters big money politics.
The secrecy that breeds further corruption in big money politics has got to have light shed on it. Shedding that light and ending governmental secrecy will make the office of the Attorney General and our state government accountable to the citizens of Ohio.
I will have the most open administration, prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law Ohio’s Sunshine Laws. I am fully committed to fighting to bring an end to the influence of big money and corrupt politicians in office.
Rule of Law
Our country and our state should be ruled by our constitution and the spirit and ideals on which our country was founded. Big money politicians have ignored the Rule of Law, legislating and enforcing law according to their own whims and desires. Oaths to uphold and defend the Constitution are routinely ignored, and we the people are slowly seeing our rights and liberties taken away.
As the highest law enforcement official in the state of Ohio, I will pledge to uphold and promote these ideals both in my personal life and with my official actions in office. Our Constitution will be more than a relic from our state’s history, but will be the Rule of Law that will govern my actions in office. As your Independent Attorney General, I will enforce the Constitution of this great State.
